Squire Training is an innovative programme of active learning that provides an overview of the role of a squire in the Middle Ages, giving students a practical taste of medieval life. It can be delivered over a number of days or weeks to suit your timetable. All of the activities can be run on school grounds or a venue to suit the needs of the school.
The programme consists of five activities (camp cooking, archery, fencing, heraldry, and navigation), each lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. Each activity has been designed to link in to key stage 2 attainment targets across five subjects (science, history, geography, art and design and physical education).
We recognise how hard teachers work so we try to take the pressure off by giving you clear information about how all of our activities map onto the National Curriculum and National Curriculum in Wales, as well as by providing a resource pack for pupils to consolidate and evidence their learning back in the classroom.
Although we’re based in the castle-filled Wye Valley on the South Wales border, we can travel to you to bring the curriculum to life.
