Bring a Borderlands bushcraft session to your school to engage your students in the outdoors. Outdoor learning is a powerful addition to your lessons and has relevance to many areas of the National Curriculum. We can bring our bushcraft sessions to schools in Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Hereford and beyond.

Primitive techniques

Our experienced instructors will guide your students through different methods of making shelter, creating fire and cooking in the outdoors. We can link the sessions directly to national curriculum areas, with additional resources provided for you to use back in the classroom. Primitive shelter building and firelighting link well to key stage 1 and 2 science, design technology and history. If you’d like a particular focus on one of these areas, just let us know so that we can design a programme for you.

Food and water

We teach the children about safe drinking water using a number of purification methods. Foraging for food in the woods also helps to build stronger connections to the natural environment. We can relate these areas back to the national curriculum for science and design technology at key stages 1 and 2.

Cooking on an open fire is often the highlight of a bushcraft session for most children. We have a number of options, depending on the length of your session and dietary requirements.

Outdoors and more

If you’d like a broader outdoor learning experience then consider our unique Squire Training programme. This is a themed activity programme incorporating bushcraft alongside a number of other sessions. We love a challenge too, so let us know if you’d like us to build a bespoke programme for you.

Outdoor learning on your site or ours

We’re based in the Wye Valley and use a number of sites in the Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons. That means we’re ideally located for schools travelling from Bristol, Cardiff, Hereford and Gloucester. We can also come to you to provide a great outdoor learning session on your site or nearby.
