Britain’s hills and mountains are a wonderful place to escape to but should not be underestimated. We’ll teach you the essentials of first aid for the outdoors with our no-nonsense, hands on approach to training. You’ll have the opportunity to achieve the ITC L3 Outdoor First Aid Emergency Action qualification as part of this course, equipping you to deal with emergencies when help is likely to be delayed. Stay on Track
Navigation in the hills is a fundamental skill when it comes to enjoying the outdoors and staying safe. We’ll teach you the principles of finding your way in areas of open country. Our base in the Black Mountains area of the Brecon Beacons national park is ideal for teaching contour interpretation and compass use for open terrain among other areas. This means that you’ll have the opportunity to achieve the National Navigation Award Scheme Silver award within the course.
Essential Info for the Hills
Safety in the hills goes beyond the skills of navigation and first aid. That’s why we build time into the course to look at clothing and equipment, weather forecasts and route planning among other areas. If you want the complete hill safety package, this is the course for you.
The course will be located close to the ancient ruins of Llanthony Priory in the heart of the Black Mountains. This stunning setting makes the ideal location for training and consolidating your skills. Accommodation is in a basic but comfortable bunk barn and the course fee includes all meals throughout your stay. If you need a relaxing break at the end of the day there are 2 lovely pubs a short walk away.
