Let us bring active learning to your Geography curriculum with our focussed fieldwork courses. We develop enquiring minds through an engaging outdoor learning programme, tied to the National Curriculum. We utilise orienteering and navigation alongside other practical exercises to create a memorable learning experience.

Key stage 1 Geography Fieldwork

At Key stage 1, students work to gain the NNAS Young Navigator Star Award. This develops their understanding of simple maps, leading to students producing their own maps. We guide the students to progress on to a study of the human and physical geography of the school surroundings.

Our key stage 1 course works well on most school sites, but it can also be provided as an off-site activity.

Key stage 2 Geography Fieldwork

Our key stage 2 programme introduces the use of Ordnance Survey mapping as a foundation for local fieldwork. Students then use the skills gained in the classroom to inform their surveys of local human and physical geography.

The programme is ideally delivered in 2 sections with on-site and off-site elements, enabling us to teach core concepts in the classroom before applying them in the field.

Key stage 3 Geography Fieldwork

At key stage 3, we teach students to understand and interpret Ordnance Survey mapping and other sources of topographical information. We can also blend this course with the NNAS Bronze certificate programme (regulated qualification at SCQF Level 4). Our key stage 3 programme is ideally delivered in the field and can be combined with one of our school activity residentials.
