Have a Borderlands Woodland Adventure in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make a fire with sticks, shoot a bow and arrow or build your own woodland shelter then this is the activity for you. Our family adventure sites are close to the A40 on the edge of the Forest of Dean; perfect for a family day out from Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham.

Family fun

Start your session with an introduction to archery. Your instructor will teach you the basics and then help you to hone your skills over a number of practice rounds. We always find that games or friendly competition goes down well towards the end. Most people are on target within a few turns, thanks to the support of our experienced instructors.

Go wild in the woods

Once you’ve warmed up with archery, it’s time to try your hand at bushcraft. This is the art of living comfortably in the wild, so there’s plenty to learn. You’ll pick up some top tips on shelter building, water purification, carving and firelighting.

If you have the patience and a bit of luck, then you may learn how to light a fire with sticks. Even if you don’t manage that, there are plenty of other firelighting methods we can teach you. The ancient technique of flint and steel firelighting is just one exciting way to get the flames roaring.

Fire is so much more fun with food! Once you’ve got the flames roaring, we’ll show you how to cook tasty snacks and meals on your open fire.
